My First Mural:: A Mandy Tribute:: The Process
This past weekend I was blessed to be given the opportunity to participate in a Santa Barbara community art project with the goal to help the infamous Funk Zone flourish again. Laura Inks, the director of the project explains “We signed the lease for the gallery, opened the front door, and looked out at broken windows, graffiti-covered walls, and a trash-strewn parking lot,” she said. “It wasn’t pretty Santa Barbara, and I knew we had to make this street more visitor-friendly.” in an Independent interview that can be read in full here. So Inks devolved the mural project for the time being, and with this in mind, I wanted to make the street really pretty...Mandy Candy Pretty.
I am so happy to share my muse Mandy with all of you and everyone who passes the mural on Mason Street. Please go check it out in person, right next to Hot Spots Coffee. Here are a couple of pictures of how she developed ;)
I had to paint over an existing mural so here is my primered wall...lol. Needed a fresh white canvas to start!
I am so happy that my art is in the street! The viewer experiences it in such a different way, rather than say a gallery, and with all the celebrating street art has been receiving lately, I am so proud to celebrate my first crack at it.
Special thanks to Andi Gee for giving me this opportunity!

ADAM MARS
I am extremely delighted to present to you my first project as a model/ muse. My dear friend Adam Mars from Laguna Beach, CA painted this amazing representation of my profile. Mars has obtained his Masters in Fine Arts from Otis College of Art and Design and displayed his work in numerous shows across the State of California. His style is pristine, refined, tastefully futuristic and nothing like anything you have ever seen. Adam is destine for greatness and has already achieved souring heights for being so young when it comes to the art world and his masterpieces. In a world where your eyes are trained to watch plasma TV's, 3-D movies, and crystal clear images, Adam's Art is on another level and is quite pleasing to the eye... and it is all hand done. I hope you enjoy the photos, but they are nothing like the real thing. XOX
Title: Meija
Medium: acrylic on canvas panel
Size: 12.5" x 10.5"
Date: 2010
I love the way the piece came out! My skin looks elegant, and as Adam would describe, I am pale as a vampire! Which, if you know me, you know that I don't mind that at all..... quite flattering if you ask me. And my lips are my favorite part of the whole thing.
COACHELLA 2010
Coachella 2010…. I almost didn’t pull it off…. But I did, and I am glad I went because I will be back next year. My old roomie and sweetheart friend Ashley met up with me in LA and drove out Thursday night. We had the pleasure of staying with our friend Sean’s family in La Quinta… whose mother Linda is just absolutely amazing! She hosted 9 of us kids there all weekend and packed the fridge with goodies to eat! Anyways, I could write an essay but I will save you the reading… best shows that I saw were Jay-Z, not a huge fan, but a fan now for sure… he played every song I knew, including CAN I GET A…. seriously some dope shit. Then Beyonce came out for Forever Young. Coachella gets a slap on the hand for scheduling DeadMau5 at the same time though… who I ran over to see at the end of Jay –Z. His new mouse hat was lit up crazy! I loved La Roux!!!! Her voice is out of control. I thought her songs were going to be a bit more technoish but I would say they were more poppy. Which I loved BTW… South Africa’s Die Antwoord was the fuckin’ shit. They only played 4 songs, but after watching them perform; I knew they were on the fast track to stardom. BEAT BOY was dope, NIJA, and the girls voice is so high and freakishly amazing good it’s like nothing you have ever heard. She is hot by the way, even with a mullet. MUSE was a band I was not prepared drool over, but I totally did. I think it was top 2 performance really out of the whole weekend. We got to hang out with snowboarder Shaun White for the whole set which was rad! Wolfgang Gartner and Bassnectar were sooo sick. Bassnectar was blowing my mind.. Good ass techno!!! Passion Pit’s sound was way off, sucked for them, even though they are a great band. Tiesto was also pretty amazing. I had to leave before Gorlliaz because I had to get to work in the morning and leaving Coachella after the show takes at least 3 hours in buttfuck traffic so I was not down to drive at 4 AM back to SB. Which is another thing, I don’t think Coachella was prepared to handle all the people coming in and out… fix that next year. And there were way too many people that got sold phoney tickets on craigslist and other places… which totally sucked! So anyone who wants to go next year…. Only by them off the OFFICAL WEBSITE! Don’t do that to yourself!!!! I saw a bunch more bands but there are too many to go over… best thing is: I found out about a lot of NEW BANDS! That is the reason you should go if you have never been: get at the new music! H & M had a cool tent with AC, water, and a photo booth. Heineken was the official beer sponsor… yummmm!! 7 bucks for a beer though! And the Sahara tent was raging like usual. Loved it! Well that is enough. My photos can tell the rest of the story. These photos are only from my Canon Rebel that I brought with me one day…. The rest are going to be on facebook… And there are a lot more so look out!
Fashion Trends that I saw but didn’t really care to photograph were:
Feather headdresses
Gladiator sandals
Jumpers
Braided headbands
Baggy shirts and jean shorts
Flower headbands
Colored hair
High wasted shorts
Denim in general
Board shorts for dudes
Bathing suits
Floral print
Hair French braided on the side that makes it look like you shaved a little chunck out

Introducing Erin Wasson
The first time I saw this beauty was at ASR on a huge billboard in San Diego. I couldn't stop staring at her, she just fixated my attention. And I am sure she will get yours, as she has been recieving the worlds attention and is soon to be, if not already, America's leading model and muse. Later that day, I was reading Vice Mag, and there she was again, for an interview about her new fashion line. I was like, woah, this chic is really in the mix. Then yesterday, I realized she is the newest additon to Victoria's Secret. I am almost positive that Erin Wasson will soon surpass Marissa Miller, which is a huge statement, but she just ins't another pretty face, she is a talented fashion designer, and serves as a muse, something that not all models can accomplish. She is the new face of RVCA Clothing and is colloborating with PM Tenore on her own line, who I am sure is fucking exctatic. She is the ultimate hipster chica. Check her out. She is definetly something to look at, and she totally inspires me.
