It is crazy to think I have been gone for almost a month. Being on vacation for 20+ days really allowed me to relax and emerge myself in a Balinese lifestyle. Everyday it was like a new layer of stress peeling away from my body and mind. I am slowly recovering from the most horrible case of jet-lag that I could have ever imagined and getting back into my Cali routine and it is crazy to think that just last week I was more than half the world away. I am not sure what "ahh-ha" moments I have came to but I know something is different, just trying to pin point what. I know it will come to me at the right time and amused that I took lots of photographs to remind myself of what inspired me. I thought I would start off with the first part of my trip in Canggu which is a small surf town just above Kuta. It was quite the little hipster town with plenty of waves and things to do. Lots of people told Kilian and I that it was like how Bali used to be before being built up. There is literally construction going on everywhere and in 5 years I can't even imagine what it will be like. Needless to say Bali is a hot spot for surf & yoga travel. The Island of the Gods, scared and a muse to many. Hope you enjoy the pics.
A surfboard has to be hands down one of my favorite canvases for my art. Every fresh new CI Surfboard that comes through my house gleams back at me, I am lucky if I can get the paint on before Kilian gets ahold of it and it gets consumed by his stickers, wax, and his drawings. This time I got lucky, I would argue that he got lucky, and I drew a Nymph on his new Flyer. He is off to Argentina and she went with him. I love drawing pin ups! Check out one of my many muses below. xoxo
This year the Santa Barbara community was blessed to have great weather and waves for the annual locals only Rincon Classic presented by Surf Happens, Quicksilver, and Channel Islands Surfboards. This event is truly one of my favorite surf contests of the year because all of my friends are in the competition, the beach is hot in the dead of winter, and we all get to enjoy each others company in the spirit of surfing Rincon.
Here are some of my pics from the event... check out more of mine on Surfline
Please make sure to give me photo credit if you repost :)
Until next year! xoxo
I am excited to announce a special event that my boy Kilian and I have been working on for the past couple of months... Please join us this next Thursday at The Brewhouse for a benefit event for Kilian to raise money to get his points back up and compete on the ASP World Tour. Kilian really wants to make the Tripe Crown of Surfing in Hawaii and the US Open in Huntington Beach and I am so stoked to have our community helping out. We will have some awesome prizes so please do come by! Special performance by ska/ reggae band Klockwyze.
A couple of weekends ago, Labor Day to be exact!, Bud Light Lime hosted their second stop on the Surf Series Tour at C-Street in Ventura. The whole weekend was a blast like always and I had a really great time. The weather was lame but other than that, the people and the atmosphere were awesome! Thanks again to Bud Light Lime and Benji Weatherly for hosting such a great surf contest.
