My Toy Collection: Part 1

I am super fortunate to have all of my toys, well most of them, in tact and in my possession. They were stored for years up in our attic, but when my mother recently lost her house in a foreclosure, it was time to get everything out...so I recently have been sorting through all my toys and have found new use for them, my artistic inspiration. As I love pin-ups and pretty things, my devotion started here with these girls... PS check out the 80's outfit home girl is rocking in the first pic. Love the earings & ring.

This basket has all my favorite Barbie's in it. I have three other cases full.

I am not sure who made this custom outfit for my lil hommie here, but I always remember calling it her "vintage" outfit because it was a really unique piece that stuck out from all the other outfits.

I was so obssesed with Tropical Barbie. I loved her necklace and sparkly bathing suit.

My favorite Salsa dress. Not sure where her dome piece is but it's in there...

This is from my Mom & her sister's collection. I have a couple of Barbie's from the 60's & 70's. You can tell because of the face.

Comb that ratty ass hair! This shows you how many dolls I have... and My Lil Ponies.

This is by far my favorite. How can I not LOVE the whole outfit. Her hair has sparkles too.

Working on a display case now... so they can be out forever and eva. I know I am weird. But come on, hipsters love toys/dolls and so do little girls:) and artists, so now they are back to inspire.

XoXo

Vogue Paris November 2009 “Graffi-Couture” Photoshoot featuring KAWS

The November 2009 issue of Vogue Paris a hot urban photoshoot titled “Graffi-Couture” featuring the beautiful model Raquel Zimmermann. Styled by Vogue’s Emmanuelle Alt and shot by photographer Mario Sorrenti, the photoshoot has also been decorated by artwork from New York based artist KAWS. The contrast between the high fashion and urban setting gets me every time! Via Hypbeast
Check out these boots, Batwoman-ish. SEXY!
Ok, I saw this make-up in the Nylon "It Girl" October Issue. Not sure if I am down with it. Crazy because it has re-appeared here... but Liquid Black Liner is my FAVORITE way to doll up your eyes.. The dress is fly.
Very Hollywood Jessica Rabbit. I love the hair. I can't wait to try this classic look at home.
Love this dress with the shoes. Not into the hat, I jock hats don't get me wrong, but little ones kind of annoy me.

This one has a romantic feel.
My favorite outfit from the shoot, maybe because of the lingerie. Lol. Love the knee highs!

The Sounds at UCSB

Pretty much one of my favorite Rock And Roll Pop Bands out there, The Sounds. They are what one would maybe call Indy, anyways, they are from Sweeden and rarely EVER tour in the US. I just saw them because they went on tour with No Doubt (props), and I thought it was a chance of a life time. But God was nice and gave me another chance, to see them in a more intimate venue, up close and personal... with Maja the lead singer. Oh baby.
SO awesome live, the keyboard is amaazzzinnngg zing! So if you get the chance, check them out. Oh by the way, this show was their FIRST college campus performance. Booy yah suckas!
Tried to record some footy on my I phone 3GS but I was so close to the speaker that it sounds wack. Check them out here-

What should I be this Halloween?

It started when I was young. I had a fascination with dressing up and making my own costumes. My mother definitely encouraged me throughout my whole child hood and still does to this day. This was one of my first 'custom' costumes. I wanted to be a Bob Mackie special edition Barbie. Still knew my steez then.
Check out that doll. Sickness for the 90's.
I need to scan some more ol sckewl pics , but here are some college goodies *University of Arizona*, and then a little. And what do they say about Halloween and girls?
Freshman year. The bunny was my dorm-mate Sarah from Pasadena, Ca.
Sophmore year on Patrol. Next government official I am going to be is a DEA Agent. Notice the Bee re appears.
Same year- 2005, Ashley West and I through a Halloween RAGER at our house in Tucson. This was our 'hostess' attire.
"Don't You Want To Fanta Fanta" STrAwBeRry! Carly had a original idea this year, She helped us all make the costumes and won the costume contest at Dirtbags Bar on Speedway.
Pirate Wench? This was for a date dash with the SAE fraternity. AND way before the costume evolved into its popular form it has now. Kinda played out.
Coolest thing about my get up was these fake hickey tattoos I got at this Halloween fair in AZ.
Club JET at The Mirage Hotel- Vegas, NV. This is where me and my Sorority Girls got serious about Halloween and dressin' up. I was diggin' for gold that night.
The next night the Gals and I were appropriately dressed for round 2 in Vegas...
Barbie date dash!! I was Punk Rock Barbie. haha Remi was Princess Barbie LOL!!!!
I was a vampire about 2 years, now going on 3. 07 Baby! Pre Twilight. You can't see my tatted sleeves but they were DOPE! This year I was VERY conservative as my dress went to the floor and I had long sleeves. I picked up the corset on Melrose Ave down in LA. It is the shit! And I wear it a lot! So great for costumes and being a Goth.

From left to right- Alice In Wonderland, Snow White, Dorthy, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Pocahontas. BOO YAH!
Thug Poo. Cuz we can't forget this hit! and Wednesday from last Halloween.
"No Dorthy, you can't home yet"
Bling Bling
So excited for my 2 new additions to my costume closet.. ( I save all of these, so hit me up if you want to wear one :) ).. you will have to wait and see! xoxo Kitty Cat

Fuel TV Guide: Santa Barbara with Ben Hyman

Ben Hyman is the best local Halibut fisherman in SB and rips at skating! Check out his interview with Chris Pastras on Fuel TV's The Guide. I have tried to go fishin' on Ben's boat for a long time, as Halibut is my absolute favorite fish to eat, all buttery! and white, but he is stern that girls bring bad luck on deck. Sounds like an old tale from the sea, and gives you a little hind sight on the above Siren that they still put on the front of boats. Greek Mythplogy has it that sailors who sailed near a Siren were compelled by the Sirens' enchanting music and voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast.

Office Humor: Don't Jack My Grinds

I am not sure if you work in an office, but this is just fudgin' funny. (I am trying to not cuss, it is not lady like, but god damn do I love a dirty mouth) Anyways, I got this email at work, and I had to share, because it put me on my booty laughing. Hopefully you will find it funny too, and know you may learn that taking other peoples food at work is just straight kooky. Actually it happened to me once, I left a loaf of Rasin Bread on my desk and it got stolen that night, came back to work the next day and bamb that sweet bread was gone. LAME!

Native American Soul Searching

I styled this outfit around the Native American theme, it takes deeps roots in California ranch culture (hence the shorts), folk lore, & Westernization. Although it may be more appropriate for Spring 2010, California's weather allows for this steezy all year round. You can never go wrong with these classic pieces.

The Art Of Santiago

Gosh! Have never heard of Pin Up artist Santiago? His work is amazing! I am a huge fan, he hit me up about a year and a half ago, I had no idea who he was, now after some time, I am literally a devoted true fan. I find his work amazing, and his rhetoric even more inspiring. He understands every aspect of Pin Ups and then some. Here are some portraits for your enjoyment.
Vintage Vandalism!!! I LOVE HER as a ZOMBIE! Love horror. Nice work!

This one is my fave. Got it on order right now, will be up in my room :) for my enjoyment everyday. So will the first one on this post. I was a huge My Little Pony Fan. Still am I guess. Covering my walls with Pin Ups. Get inspired every day to be the best lady you can be!

Art of Santiago
Blog
About Santiago from his website-
"I never had an official bio, and won't bore you with one now. Nor will I talk in the third person about what companies and exhibitions I collaborated with. I would rather be genuine and embarrass myself before you with a story. A story about a nerdy kid too shy, socially awkward, and pathetically nervous to talk to pretty girls. So instead, I painted them. Beauty controls the world. All men pursue her; all women admire or strive to be her. Even the religions of the world showcase her. Show me a painting of an ugly Virgin Mary, a homeless looking Buddha or an out of shape Hindu Goddess. Instead of being like the cool kids who went out, had social lives and did stuff, I stayed home watching Anime, drawing and painting beauty, gathering inspiration from countless sources. Fast forward many years, I am still that nerdy fellow creating provocative visuals blending experimental urban futuristic pinups filled with cultural mash-ups, musical eroticism, deep emotion, robotic fashion forwardness, exotically tanned curvaceousness with a twist of religious-spiritual-social consciousness. Success for me is simple. At the end of the day the only thing that matters in my "success" as an artist is.... does my art move you? Can you feel my passion through the colors, shapes, textures and concepts that are spilling out of my brain for you to enjoy?"

Hot Shoe For Spring 2010 :: Grey Ant X Teva

Following up on this years Magic trade show in Vegas, came across this shoe collaboration featuring Grey Antics X Teva. I knew about it months ago when they were working on it, however, the shoe is getting the response it deserves after it's showcase at this years Magic. Darren, my close friend who works down the street from me at Deckers here in Goleta has been re-freshing the outdoor based shoe brand Teva. He literally has been working miracles over there in the style department and I can't wait to rock his lifesytle line in the next coming months. These shoes are forsure comfy coming from Teva, and with trends moving toward a more natural, tribal feel for next year, you are sure to be rockin' the steez with this pair.
