The Working Man's Wave

Over the past couple of years, Transworld Surf has introduced a contest called Imaginarium that aims to push the limits on creativity in regards to surf photos and surf videos as we know them today. "Kicking off New York fashion week, photographer Ben Watts has splashed the entire Milk gallery with his signature acid-pop colours and photography, amongst which are eight shortboards to be auctioned off in aid of eight different charities.

Karlie Kloss, Allesandra Ambrósio, Dree Hemingway,Ashley Smith, Behati Prinsloo, Emanuela de Paula, Cintia Dicker and Candice Swanepoel all agreed to appear on the boards that were designed by world champion surfboarder Kelly Slater.

Crowned world ASP surf champion eleven times, Kelly Slater added his magic touch to the design process to create the ‘Whip’, the Bugatti Veyron of sharp shortboards. Hanging on a wall or carving up fast waves, these beauties will never go into mass production and will be unique to each lucky private bidder.

Grinding up a killer wave with Allesandra Ambrósio on your side, what can be hotter than that?"

The 6th Annual Malibu Invitational

Every year I look forward to this amazing event held at Surfrider Beach at First Point in Malibu. The contest was started to help raise funds for the hommie Lyon Herron's battle with Gardner Syndrome. I can't tell you how brave and strong Lyon truly is and it is such a pleasure and inspiration to be at this event as it is so special and dear to all of us who live in the area. Big thanks to Brandon at Val Surf and all the buddies at Freedom Artists, Thera Surf, Sicky Dicky, and the whole Malibu crew for running such a great event!

The Hollister Ranch Hoe Down

I was so incredibly honored and delighted to attend the Summer annual Hollister Ranch Hoe Down this year. I have been dreaming about going since high school and finally got to attend with my hommie Clinton Hollister, his beautiful wife Ashley, and Clinton's parents. It was also great to see Jeff Bridges and his band play live! Huge thank you to the Hollister Family for taking us up and treating us for the evening. It couldn't have been more fun.

Outside Lands is better than Coachella

This year I have been so blessed to attend so many amazing concerts and live music festivals. I FINALLY made it up to the Outside Lands festival in Golden Gate Park San Francisco, CA and let me tell you, I think it's better than Coachella.

Let me tell you why:

No hassle lines when you arrive.

It's in the city. Meaning you don't have to wait for over an hour to get home after the concert ends bc of the traffic, shuttles, etc.

You can walk around with amazing beer and wine! They have "Winelands" and "Beerlands" tasting areas!

The food is SO much better.

Not so many younger kids.

It's nice to bundle up and be kinda cold for once. I love the weather at Coachella but its refreshing in They Bay.

I do have to say, the Outside Lands line up is getting better and better every year, but isn't as "well rounded" as Coachella. Meaning:: They need to make sure they have some big names from every category lined up. Stevie Wonder was the big finale at Outside Lands and I was over at Skrillex. Does that make sense? I know I will never see Steve Wonder again probably and see Skrillex ten times more in my life, but I think they could have had a better finale. Metallica was by far the best show as well as Die Antwoord.
