Gun Man on La Cumbre Identified
A masked gunman waving an American flag and a handgun on a freeway overpass surrendered to police Monday after forcing a traffic shutdown for hours.
The man gave himself up at midmorning west of downtown Santa Barbara at Highway 101, a major route along the California coast. No shots were fired. Traffic was backed at least three miles in each direction.
The man agreed to give up after he was allowed to attach a Barack Obama campaign sign and the flag to the overpass railing, said police Sgt. Jim Pfleging.
Police were continuing to investigate a duffel bag and the man's car at the scene but "we have no credible threats or any threats of explosives," Pfleging said.
Police identified the man as 28-year-old Eddie Van Tassel. Pfleging said the man is believed to be a service veteran and will receive a mental health evaluation.
The man, wearing a ski mask and brown fatigues, had the flag in one hand and the gun in the other when officers arrived on the highway's La Cumbre Avenue overpass just after 7:10 a.m., said police Sgt. Lorenzo Duarte.
A police special weapons and tactics team and a crisis negotiation team used a bullhorn to communicate with him. After nearly three hours, he put the handgun on the ground and walked backward to police officers.
All I have to say about this kook is that he made me an hour late to work. Thanks for fucking up most of SB's morning selfish prick. Put a sign on your god damn lawn!

Operation Gator Roll
I am interested to see what they find. This topic is of great concern to me and was heightened when one of my little brother's 14 year old friend's & local SB skater "Chunky" got stabbed DT a while back. These kids are out of control and this shit needs to end.

Joe Shea participating in Noche De Los Muertos
It's offical! My piece "Violetta" is finally up at Muddy Waters for you to go check out and critique. This is my first show, as well as my first painting this size (3ft X 3ft)- I can't wait for the feedback!
I went by Muddy Waters yesterday and there was some pretty sweet stuff up, including three Halloween inspired pieces by Joe Shea. Definitely worth checking out, the installation reminded me of Jack the Pumpkin Head in Sleepy Hallow- another one of my favorites by Tim Burton.
On another note, Anne Hathaway has just signed off to do Tim Burton's new film Alice in Wonderland starring as the White Queen. CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS ONE TO COME OUT!

The Fedoration
This past weekend was the Fedoration's bi-annual formal.
We started the evening out at Eric's house for cheese fondu and wine, followed by a nice dinner at Opal restaurant and then over to the main event, The Aggrolites at Soho.
They call themselves "The Fedoration" because all of the men wear Fedora hats and dress up once a month to go out for dinner and drinks. It's just a good group of guys that get together to have good times and share their experiences for that particular month (work, love, and life). They have monthly $$ dues and every 6 months they take those dues and throw a Fedorama party or travel to a different city for a weekend. They also have their our own bank account, buttons, jackets, stickers and a club house. The official drink of "The Fedoration" is Kettle One/Sodas. The Fedoration also has three different offices which they take turns running- Treasurer, Historian, and Event Coordinator.
I was invited by Rob Washburn, BONES Wheels Brand Manager and Mike Taylor, who also is a Brand Manager and works at Skate One with me.

Oh yeah, those Kettle One/Soda's tore me up. I'm now an official Fedorette!
