Office Humor: Don't Jack My Grinds

I am not sure if you work in an office, but this is just fudgin' funny. (I am trying to not cuss, it is not lady like, but god damn do I love a dirty mouth) Anyways, I got this email at work, and I had to share, because it put me on my booty laughing. Hopefully you will find it funny too, and know you may learn that taking other peoples food at work is just straight kooky. Actually it happened to me once, I left a loaf of Rasin Bread on my desk and it got stolen that night, came back to work the next day and bamb that sweet bread was gone. LAME!

Native American Soul Searching

I styled this outfit around the Native American theme, it takes deeps roots in California ranch culture (hence the shorts), folk lore, & Westernization. Although it may be more appropriate for Spring 2010, California's weather allows for this steezy all year round. You can never go wrong with these classic pieces.

The Art Of Santiago

Gosh! Have never heard of Pin Up artist Santiago? His work is amazing! I am a huge fan, he hit me up about a year and a half ago, I had no idea who he was, now after some time, I am literally a devoted true fan. I find his work amazing, and his rhetoric even more inspiring. He understands every aspect of Pin Ups and then some. Here are some portraits for your enjoyment.
Vintage Vandalism!!! I LOVE HER as a ZOMBIE! Love horror. Nice work!

This one is my fave. Got it on order right now, will be up in my room :) for my enjoyment everyday. So will the first one on this post. I was a huge My Little Pony Fan. Still am I guess. Covering my walls with Pin Ups. Get inspired every day to be the best lady you can be!

Art of Santiago
Blog
About Santiago from his website-
"I never had an official bio, and won't bore you with one now. Nor will I talk in the third person about what companies and exhibitions I collaborated with. I would rather be genuine and embarrass myself before you with a story. A story about a nerdy kid too shy, socially awkward, and pathetically nervous to talk to pretty girls. So instead, I painted them. Beauty controls the world. All men pursue her; all women admire or strive to be her. Even the religions of the world showcase her. Show me a painting of an ugly Virgin Mary, a homeless looking Buddha or an out of shape Hindu Goddess. Instead of being like the cool kids who went out, had social lives and did stuff, I stayed home watching Anime, drawing and painting beauty, gathering inspiration from countless sources. Fast forward many years, I am still that nerdy fellow creating provocative visuals blending experimental urban futuristic pinups filled with cultural mash-ups, musical eroticism, deep emotion, robotic fashion forwardness, exotically tanned curvaceousness with a twist of religious-spiritual-social consciousness. Success for me is simple. At the end of the day the only thing that matters in my "success" as an artist is.... does my art move you? Can you feel my passion through the colors, shapes, textures and concepts that are spilling out of my brain for you to enjoy?"

Hot Shoe For Spring 2010 :: Grey Ant X Teva

Following up on this years Magic trade show in Vegas, came across this shoe collaboration featuring Grey Antics X Teva. I knew about it months ago when they were working on it, however, the shoe is getting the response it deserves after it's showcase at this years Magic. Darren, my close friend who works down the street from me at Deckers here in Goleta has been re-freshing the outdoor based shoe brand Teva. He literally has been working miracles over there in the style department and I can't wait to rock his lifesytle line in the next coming months. These shoes are forsure comfy coming from Teva, and with trends moving toward a more natural, tribal feel for next year, you are sure to be rockin' the steez with this pair.

Old Spanish Days

Santa Barbara Old Spanish Days August 2009
SB's tradition filled Summer festival
Jasmine & I at El Paseo restaurant watchin' los ninos dance
Crafts in De La Guerra. Love Mexco's crafts. You know I used to dance Flamenco. Politics in SB are a little out of control regarding the subject, but I danced till I was about 6. I made it to the Mission Steps for sure. Video from lates 80's soon to come.
Check out my vintage Mexican dress. It belongs to my mom, she used to wear it in the 70's & 80's. Straight from Mexico, yall know I am half Mexican right?! DAMN STRAIGHT!
Homeboys double action hat match up! LEGIT! so good not to blog about. Serious fashion points/ or entertainment, whatever you want to call it. I appreciate the enthusiasm for the festivities.

Summer Concerts

I had a blast going to amazing concerts this summer season. The Santa Barbara Bowl always rocks the City. The Sounds knocked my socks off all the way from Sweden. Maja Ivarsson, the lead singer, is SO RAD! Her little leather moto outfit was too cute, way stylin'- her and Gwen were precious together. Yes I said precious. Both of these ladies stage presence is strong.
Gwen Stefani is my hero.
SB Bowl
No Doubt's first jam was Spiderwebs, followed by a plethora of hits including Don't Speak, Hella Good, New, Sunday Morning
Slightly Stoopid at Blazed and Confused

Jenna and I cruzing the Nikes. Love this pic I took on my I phone, it's raw. Ended up at the "Blazed & Confused" Snoop, Slightly Stoopid, & Mickey Avalon Tour. Snoop was better than ever.
Tales from the Crypt. Snoop Dog is such a mother freakin gangster. He puts on are really entertaining show and is just hard about his vibe.
How are the dank plants on stage? OnLy In CaLiFoRnIa?!
Ready set go
Snoop did the illest tribute to Tupac. MAD RESPECT. Here is a clip from anther show so you can get an idea of what went on. He played "Hail Mary" SO SICK!
Damian Marley.... at the Bowl..

Then

Went to UCSB Extravaganza with some college kids on the soccer field. I go every year, always some good people on the stage but it is a long day.
DJ Girl Talk got everyone up on stage
And some high schoolers, check out mi bro
Rebelution. I missed Ludacris later that evening. I was getting cranky and wanting to leave this one. It did remind me of my good ol days at Arizona being around a bunch of college kids. Not like I am that old, but three years deep outta the mix and into corporate world can screw with you a little. In a good way. The vibe is always great at UCSB

Hyper Crushin' The Future

My newest favorite band. Kinda. Been jocking for a couple years but you know... in the 'scheme of things' newest fav. I am pretty sure they had a video contest with their fans, and this video won... However, first time hearing this song...so fresh. Can't wait for the new album dropping soon.

Steezy Fall Fashion

Bloggin' about fashion. Reading fashion blogs has actually helped my day to day street fashion and prepared me for what to expect in the retail stores for new seasons regarding trends. Trend watching is quite interesting, especially because clothing allows individuals to express themselves while also translating into a shared social expression. Going back to my motorcycle theme for the fall season 09, to be honest with you, I was influenced and inspired to write those posts based on some mags and what I was seeing on the internet and all over the fashion blogs, and there is a lot- so before I even went down town Santa Barbara and cruised the windows for 'back to school' I came across BeBe. I was surprised, yet at ease because I already knew what was going on in the store... pretty much from fashion blogs. So there is a real connection we got going here over the internet.

Here are some more pieces that caught my eye.

The leather studded fringe vest is quite Jimmy Hendrix
Acid wash denim dress. Adorable.
The chunky jewelery is a must with the studded hat.
The above boots would be killer for this fall.

And Adriana Lima, looking Steezy at Victoria's Secret.

Brian Viveros- Mess With The Bull

Check out this signed limited print I came across. I really enjoy this artist- Brian M Viveros. A dark pin-up style so to say. I love the detail. I like the vibrancy of the whole image.

A lil from the artist on the hand embellishment process:

- First what I did is I watered down some acrylic flesh tones and ran it through my custom micron to bring up certain areas bringing this print more to life. I wanted to bring more life to this print as a whole so I worked on each one individually adding to the face and body, just lil’ subtleties ya’ know - not taking away but adding more, something special to each one so its not just your everyday print.

- I then focused on my signature cigarette and eyes adding more detail with white to highlight the lips a little more and the cigarette ash looks even more lit and the eyes I made even deeper and more seductive with a slight touch of black.

- Last I came in with red (“The Blood”) overlaying each rose, her lips and the cape of the bullfighter so that each really pops and adds a little more life and richness to it. Practically bleeding off the paper.

Silvia Ji X Arbor Sports

Hella stoked to see one of my favorite artists... Silvia Ji do a collaboration with an action sport retailer.

Proof that the industry is changing and supporting one another. Personally, I can't think of anything better than art, music, and action sports. Silvia is featured in numerous issues of Juxtapoz and I can't argue with her subject content and style. Next to Sector 9, Arbor is the leading long board distributor & manufacturer for cruiser boards, as they sponsor Kelly Slater.
