Summer Solstice in SB

Summer Solstice in Santa Barbara is one of my favorite days all year and I always look forward to the solar festivities that circulate around my home town for the that one special day. Everyone is always in a good mood and the sun seems to never fail us, giving SB a warm glow all day. In the spirit of Summer Solstice, every year I am inspired to create one garment or accessory that serves to express creativity and Summer Love. Last year I made a shell top so I could swim with the mermaids, the year before I created a flower bra, and this year I created a crystal/bead/ chain headpiece that was inspired by Jasmine from Disney's Aladin. I wanted something inspired by the east, that was princess like, but had elements of festivities and celebration. I also added the swarovski crystal tear drop so it could catch the sun and glimmer rainbows across my face. I also really liked the head piece Suzi made because the stone had a raw earthy element to it that went well with her loose wire wrapping for the crown of the piece. The pink stone also looked amazing with her skin tone. Suzi is amazing with headpieces and I am sure we will have a crafting session soon. Please let me know if you want to join! Enjoy the pics xoxo
This photo is great in so many ways.

Pussy Cat from the Philippines by Derek Santiago

I can't tell you enough how much I love pin- up art! It is very inspiring and just sucks me in, I could spend hours and hours researching. One of my favorite artists, Derek Santiago over at Rice and Beanz continues to amaze me with his futuristic pin-up art. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. A Pussy Cat is perfect for Friday. xoxox Kitty Cat

Acacia Swimwear: The Lifestyle of a Gypsetter

With summer in full effect, it is hard not have bikinis on the brains. I am completely overloaded with flirty styles and this seasons must have picks. Not to mention some South swells that has had my boyfriend and his buddies flocking to the beach. It is quite inspiring to see such a trend emerging among pro surfers' better halves when it comes to designing couture swimwear. I must say, Tori Praver takes the cake for me... But Lyndie Irons, husband World Champ Andy Irons, line Acacia Swimwear along with her partner Naomi Newirth has defiantly sparked my interest. With Italian fabrics and Brazilian inspired cuts, this line sure looks sexy. Can't wait to get my hands, or  my ass, on one. Enjoy the pictures via Acacia Swimwear.

Art Shack

I have to say, I had quite the amazing time at the Laguna Beach Art Museum a couple weeks ago at the opening of the current exhibit- Art Shack. Each artists' exhibitions were uniquely different from the next and it was a pleasure to travel from shack to shack and marvel at the installations. Artist Adam Mars and I started the evening at the Hurley / Nike/ Converse 225 Store in Laguna with mojiotos in hand surrounded by the ehibit's artists. After having a couple of cocktails and warm conversations, we walked over to the museum to enoy the show. The high lite of my evening was meeting the legendary Don Ed Hardy and Craig Stecyk. It truley was a blessing as I have been inspired by their art for a quite some time now.  I hope you enjoy the photos and if you have time, please try and make it over to Art Shack.

For more information about the show please and how you can view it go to Laguna Beach Art Museum
Liz McGrath - The Folly of Saint Hubertus... This was by far my favorite at the exhibit!! The lil doe was covered in 5K worth of swarski crystals... oooh lalala!

Kenny Scharf - Space Arrow interior

Mike Shine - Shine Shack
 Legendary skateboard artist Craig Stecyk
Jason Maloney - Amber Alert.... I NEED ONE OF THESE PLUSH ELEPHANTS!

Billabong ** Design for Humanity **

Two weekends ago I had the pleasure of attending my first ever Billabong Design for Humanity. The event was held at the New York city section of Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, Ca. They had two different stages, an art gallery, live art, tee-shirt screening workshop, bars, fashion show, live music, and a shit ton of cool people... Not to mention the proceeds benefit the Invsible Children of Africa. Good karma points that put everyone in a celebratory mood. I was thuroghly impresssed by the whole production and had a great time.
All over lace? Love it! I am still dying to get the American Apparel one piece...
Billabong Team Rider Bo Stanely and I on the red carpet

The one and only... Bobby
lead singer of Incubus... Bradon Boyd's art. I love it, but too bad it was a print. Wamp wamp.

I liked this painting a lot. The camel is super cute.
Pretty sure I have seen this painting somewhere... maybe Juxtapoz? Not sure but it is fun!

I was really stoked to see some skateboarding photos up there... especially the one that landed on the cover of Concrete Wave mag of CB.

VANS Pro-Tec Pool Party

I am happy to say that I was able to attend the annual Pro-Tec Pool Party at the VANS skate park in Orange, Ca. This was my first big skating event and it was awesome! It was so refreshing to be around such a heavy scene as I am usually at the beach watching the boys rip from a far. Punk rock blasting and some of the most legendary vert skaters in the industry ripping the fresh Combi Bowl. Congrats to Cab for taking the event, it was truly amazing and inspiring to watch these athletes compete.
My favorite shot of Buck Lasik that KG took
Legendary Lance Mountain. Gosh I love the Stecyk graphic!
Look who I ran into to! xoxo
Old school badass and  legend Duane Peters
Kilian getting VANS owner Steve Van Doren's John Hancock. Van Doren is the nicest guy!
Bob Burnquist taking a heavy spill

Volcom rider Alex Perelson
Todd Schwartz from Garden Sk8 New Jersey!
Cara Beth Burnside killing it ! Placing 13th in the Grand Masters
CABALLERO winning the event. Cab is RAD! Amazing person
This girl was the hottest thing at the event. I saw her in the crowd and had to take a picture of her outfit. I loved it!
Jim Gray, one of the coolest people you will ever meet in skateboarding history.

Bikini Baby

Ok. Woah! So this is my first 'bikini shoot'~ More pictures to come!! I wanted to know that I could do it. So we did it- I was lucky to get a chance to work with  Derren again from DNA Imagery. Derren and Ana (DNA) are incredibly talented when it comes to photography, graphic design, and branding and having been traveling the world for months. D was in town for about 5 days and we were able to whip this one out before he and Ana left again. Make sure to check out their site and blog HERE so you can really see what they are all about.

Rumi Neely's Machinery Dress by RVCA

Fashion Toast. If you don't know who Rumi Neely is, you probably should. Her fashion blog is number one when it comes to hits and followers. To tell you the truth, I didn't really think much of her when I first started reading Fashion  Toast. I am not sure why keep going because I'm not overly hyped on her style, but I do. Something about her has me coming back for more. One thing I can say about her style is that I love how she always rocks something short on the bottom, a long flowy top, and THE  SICKEST, chunkiest SHOES EVER.  It is chics like these that make me pissed I don't have more cash to spend on Jeffery Campbell. And... she loves high socks/ stockings/ tights= <3 Best part of Rumi- she is killing it. She truly has inspired me to blog and focus on personal style- and she has the coolest freaking gigs eveR. She has a billabord in Time Square, and even cooler (I think) is that she has her first pieces with RVCA. Not sure if you know me, but I die over RVCA. With the likes of Erin Wasson, and a mean pack of artists >> REVOK<< and athletes >>DANNY FULLER<<, Pat Tenore sure knows how to pick talent. I first became interested in the action sports industry when I saw a job posting on Malakye.com for a RVCA artist assistant position. I had just graduated from the U of A and was in one of those after college what do I do with my life funks- then RVCA sparked my interest. I sent a silly art inspired porfolio to PT and got totally denied- It was such a rookie movie. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to work for RVCA in some shape, way, or form and that this was the industry for me. Artists, atheletes, musical talent, and more. DA LIFE. Hopefully someday in the future, for now... I am just working towards it. Rumi's dress and colloboration with RVCA assures me that yet again- RVCA is is the shit. Thanks for all the inspiration. Check out Rumi's Machinery dress, inspired by Milla Jovovich's bandage gear in The Fifth Element. XOXOX
