Punk Rock Princess:: Jesse Jo Stark

Jesse Jo Stark, also known as the "Anti-It Girl," has recently caught my eye, and it looks like she has been catching other peoples eyes for quite some time. Thank god for girls like her. Her punk rock style brings me back to my Junior High roots when I just started to get into the 'cool' music scene, too bad I didn't have the 'ganas' to wear this stuff back in 8th grade when I had no idea who  I was. I love celebrating Jesse's style when we have too many Jeffery Campbell Top Shop look alikes everywhere blogging it up for Nylon  Mag. Please.  Don't get me wrong though, I love all all of the above, I'm just saying. Jesse Jo defiantly embodies a California style that demands my attention. Damn girl, you make bad look so good. UGG Australia Los Angeles Grand Opening

Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the grand opening of the UGG Australia Los Angeles store at The Grove in LA hosted by Vanity Fair. This store is the brand's first official 'So-Cal' store and adds to approx. 13 total stores across the world, 3 opening this month. When most people in the fashion industry think of Uggs (I have heard this numerous times), they point out the fact that yes, they are sometimes ugly (hence the name Ugg- I learned that at the opening) and not as aesthetically inspiring as other stilettos or knee high boots! After some time now, this brand has proven itself and guess what?! I do not care if they are ugly, they are COMFY~! I had a conversation with one of their employees and they stated that the selling point for an Ugg customer, or the point of purchase, is when they try on the actual boot/ shoe. Once your feet hit that Sherpa- there is no going back people. These shoes are 200%+ comfortable, and during the Fall/ Winter, when it is time to go to the beach and watch my bf surf, these are what I wear. There are so many cute styles these days that it is impossible to say they are ugly. Check out this new collaboration by Jimmy Choo.

lots of Vanity Fair magazines to take home and read

When I asked the manager what their top selling sku at the new store was (it has been open for a week now), he stated that the Short Sparkles boot would be sold out come morning time, meaning, this shoe is already sold out...  Not to mention, this item was given away to Oprah's audience as one of her 'favorite things.' We call this the Oprah effect- sales have now be going crazy for this item, yes, Oprah can have an effect on business. These Sparkles come in black, silver, and gold.

If you are a feeling the holiday spirit, I highly recommend Uggs for Christmas for anyone you love! xoxo

First Thursday SB

Last night I attended Santa Barbara's First Thursday Art Walk. I hope you enjoy the art and the photos! I know I did!
First stop was State and A where we visited our friend and talented filmmaker/ photographer Zach Brown
Kilian and Zach
Next stop on the art walk was Fuzion. This place had all the best art! I highly recommend shopping there for your street wear threads as well.

Most of the following pictures are all taken at Fuzion, wish I knew who all the artists where.... Here are my favorites-

Detail from the above painting
sooo sick!

Vanae Rivera .... one of my favorite SB artists, probably because her art steez reminds me of Fafi and I love little pin ups. Check out her blog...

I love how popular feather jewelry is becoming right now. I have seen Aya Papaya's earrings before at Yoga Soup, and it was cool to see some of her product last night at Fuzion. She is doing feather hair extensions, RAD! $15 per strand....

Our last and final stop was an art show on Helena Street. I absolutely loved this group of works. I wish I knew the artist because this guy/or girl ROCKS
I LOVE Characters! One of my favorites all night.

That concludes my First Thursday! Thanks for checking out my blog <3

North Shore Artist:: Mary Beth

While on the North Shore of Hawaii last winter, I had the pleasure of stumbling into an amazing art gallery (forgive me I can't find the name anywhere) in Haleiwa. It was there where I re-discovered artist Mary-Beth. I first heard about Mary-Beth from my friend Garrett Iaco. He had this stunning Gwen Stefani portrait that she did and I instantly fell in love with her style. Her talent is so refined and soft, that her pencil marks appear to be air brushed. Here are some of my favorites from her site, I might add that the mini mermaids make excellent gifts! I have Ula (featured below) hanging on my wall so I can always have a piece of the North Shore close to me. Aloha xoxo

Neighbors: Mike Giant

Mike Giant. For those of you who know me, you know how much I love this dude. After 4 years solid of being a dedicated fan and art geek over Giant... collecting his art books, reading blogs, and consuming R8, Mike continues to be my favorite artist, and I really don't see that changing any time soon. I am a loyal fan. He is unique and wise beyond others. In addition to being an amazing illustrator, I love his personality.  He always inspires me.

VANS All Girls Combi Pool Classic

This past weekend I had the opportunity to witness a moment in history that I will never forget, the first ever ALL GIRLS VANS Combi Pool Classic. I was there helping out my associates, professional female skateboarders Mimi Knoop and Cara-Beth Burnside. Burnside is the equivalent of a female Tony Hawk when it comes to skateboarding and both girls have a pleathera of X-Games Titles under their belts. For more info on them, check out their team page on the hoopla skateboards webstie. I am currently assisting Skate One with their female skate brand hoopla skateboards, so I went down to the Block in Orange County to set up the vendor tent and show my support as it relates to female skateboarding. All of our flow girls and pro riders did an amazing job skating in the event and I was proud to be there supporting them. All I can say is that I really need to skating the vert. I am totally inspired. I don't really surf, so skateboarding is my calling when it comes to action sports. Hopefully soon I can rock the bowl.

For more information on the event, please check out Concrete Disciples "You've Come Along Way, Baby"

My six year old friend Annika Vrklan. I LOVE THIS KID! The picture says it all.
