Sweet Blessed Bee Magic

I recently started using this amazing product and I couldn't be happier with the results. Thank you so much Jackie Cossart!! Check out Sweet Blessed Bee Magic if you have a chance at your local health food store or retailer. I picked up my jar at Lazy Acres here in Santa Barbara and my skin hasn't been happier! I use it for everything and carry it around in my purse daily. It is amazingly hydrating, works as a great night cream, heals cuts and scrapes faster, and the bee pollen and honey proteins help eye lashes grow! Best of all it is organic and local!

Contains only pure, live, natural ingredients:
Organic extra virgin olive oil, organic beeswax, organic honey, propolis extract, organic bee pollen and royal jelly.

While doing some research online, I came across this informative website that had lots of info including the benegfits of honey! Read up! Makes me want to go purchase bee pollen right now!

Honey can assist wound healing because:

   1. Antibacterial and rapidly clears infecting bacteria, including antibiotic-resistant strains.
   2. Honey's antibacterial property can diffuse deeply into skin tissues, so that it can reach deep-seated infections.
   3. Cleans wounds. Honey has a debriding effect.
   4. The osmotic effect of honey lifts dirt out of the wound bed.
   5. Dressings do not stick to the surface of the wound allowing easy removal of dressings. The osmotic effect of the honey keeps the wound moist, clean and prevents the dressing sticking to the wound. Tissue damage and pain are reduced when dressings are changed as there is no tearing away of newly formed tissue. Healing is more rapid.
   6. Reduces scarring. The honey draws body fluids and nutrients to the wound area and so assists cell growth and prevents a scar forming as the wound is kept moist. Honey provides nutrients (vitamins, minerals and amino acids) to tissues
   7. Promotes more rapid healing because the honey stimulates tissue regeneration.
   8. Acidity of honey releases oxygen from haemoglobin new growing cells need oxygen. Honey stimulates the white blood cells.
   9. Hydrogen peroxide in honey has an insulin-like effect and promotes wound healing. Insulin is a growth hormone
  10. Anti-inflammatory action of honey soothes and promotes healing, reduces pain and swelling
  11. Honey forms a protective barrier to prevent cross-infection of wounds.
  12. Honey removes malodour from wounds by killing the bacteria which produce ammonia
  13. Honey does not damage the surrounding tissue
  14. Honey minimizes the need for grafting

FAUXTALE

Santa Barbara Native Toree Artnz founded FAUXTALE with partner Kate Marie Thompson in May 2010 and I am so delighted to see how fast they are moving forward. Every time I see Toree, she is wearing the most amazing faux fur and and body chains dripping with crystals, porcupine quills, and mini skeletons from various animals. I am so inspired by her company and LOVE all her pieces. Make sure to check out her site here.

From their site:

"Each piece is hand made, with the same care and intuition as an oil painting. The crowning intention of FAUXTALE is to outwardly express our inner instinctual connection to the natural world and it’s animal kingdom.

Each piece is unique and organic, like a wearable work of fine art. Using only the highest quality of faux fur and fabrics available, our attire is accented with exotic materials such as African porcupine quills, hand-dyed feathers, bone, horn and hair to create tantalizing textures and patterns. FAUXTALE is ANIMAL SENSITIVE AND SUSTAINABLE which means we honor the earth and it's creatures by using only the best quality faux and recycled products.

FAUXTALE tells the folklore of this planet’s natural muses, while inspiring its hosts to become so enchanted upon adorning themselves, that they begin to weave their own tale…"

Check out some of her items at Lola in Santa Barbara.

Gabrielle Bernstein:: Spirit Junkie:: Expect Miracles

For the past year, I am proud to say I have became a devoted Spirit Junkie thanks to Gabrielle Bernstein. Fate, or twitter, brought us together. Your call. One day, I got a message in my inbox that Gabby was following me on twitter. I went to go check her out on her site and felt as though an angel literally came down to help me. Her first book Add More Ing seemed like too much of a coincidence with her on the skateboard (riding BONES Wheels if I might add). Since Gabrielle's introduction, I have read both of her books that are based on the spiritual bible- A Course in Miracles and listen to her weekly Vlogs for inspiration. Gabby has also reignited my goal of mastering mediation and inspirited me beyond belief!! I highly recommend checking out what Gabby has to say and in the words of a Spiritual Junkie, expect miracles and fill you life with love!

I also wanted to add that I am currently reading A Course in Miracles and reading Spirit Junkie first is really helping me understand the text :)

Good Luck!

Keegan Gibbs X Jalama

Malibu local Keegan Gibbs takes some stunning photos and is incredibly talented to say the least. Along with filming the RVCA surf team on a consistent basis, Keegan also captures photos of graffiti artists vandalizing the streets of LA and timeless snaps of the ocean. Check out his portfolio here....

I couldn't help but blog these amazing photos of Jalama Beach that he took recently on a trip up to Santa Cruz. These shots capture the mystic place that is Jalama and reminds me of time spent with Kilian and long walks to Cracks.

Mike Giant X VCJ

It was a union I will never forget. Two legendary artists that work in black and white ink finally meeting. Two of my favorite friends. I was lucky enough to have received a very nice visit from artist Mike Giant. I was able to hook him up with a factory tour at our skateboard manufacturing facility here in Santa Barbara thanks to my buddy Rob Washburn. I am so happy about this photo, words cannot express! Glad to unite two VERY talented artists!!!!
